Tate modern:
We had the chance to go to the Tate modern to see the expeditions of Harry Callahan and William Eggleston. On the way we had to take images of street photography. We had to remember to take whatever we see, capturing the moment and to think about the contrast and similarities. Overall I think that the trip went well because we got to see some amazing photographers, looking at how they took their images, learning form them and being able to practice our street photography skills on the streets. I would love to go on another trip like this.

Harry Callahan
In this image there are people walking in the streets and into an alley. In this image you can clearly see that it’s a street photograph because the people in the image look natural and are not posing. Down the centre of the image, down the alley way, you can see a person running towards/away from the camera. This has caused a group of pigeons to scatter and fly away. This image is in black and while making it look old and probably taken forma film camera. The composition in the image is chaotic and calm at the same time. The image does have movement but not a lot. I think that Harry Callahan was standing up and not that far away to take this image. The image is far so that you can’t see the people faces, but close enough to see what they are doing. The photographer has used a wide lens to capture the people and the background.

William Eggleston
In this image all you see is a yellow ‘emergency taxi ‘. This image is in colour making the bright yellow pop out against the backgrounds plain colours. This image has a calm composition because nothing is moving. The phone is in the centre of the image making it the centre of the image. I think that the photographer was standing right in front of the subject hence making the phone centre of attention. The photographer was standing still while taking this image, I know this because the image is not blurry, meaning that there was no movement. I would class this image as street photography because its capturing whatever the photographer was seeing and that was this phone.

In this image all you can see is a blue motorbike. From the background you can clearly see that it is taken form the street. This image is taken in colour sowing how modern it is. If this image was in black and white, it would show how old the camera is (or they could just be using an app). This image has a calm composition; nothing in the image is moving everything is still. The motorbike is close to the camera making it look. in this image I was crouching down low in front of the motorbike. Overall I think that this image turned out ok but it could have been better if someone was on the motorbike |
In this image you can see a person’s bottom half and in their hand there is a bright violet bag that has ‘TATE’ written on it. This image is in colour. The violet colour stands out the most against the dark colour of the persons clothing. The rest of the image is blurry because of movement. When I took this image I was walking and so was the person making the background blurry. This image has a chaotic composition because of the blurriness, showing movement. This image is a cropped image because I didn’t take an image of the whole body, I just focused on the lower part of the body and the violet bag.

In this image there are 3 people standing and looking at something in the distance. This image is in colour, it shows how modern things are and if it was in black and white it would show how old things are. This image was taken when I was crouched down slightly to capture and upwards view of someone. This image is not blurry even though it was taken on the move. This image is classed as a street photograph because it was taking without the person knowing. The image is exactly how saw the 3 people standing there that is another reason for it being a street photograph |
In this image there is 2 men standing and smoking by a wall. They are both wearing bright yellow reflective jackets suggesting that they might work for the community (or something). This image is in colour it’s important that is stays in colour abuse then we know how much they sand out in day to day life. This image was taken from waist height co I could capture his whole body. This images has a clam composition because there is no movement in the image.
