What is a photogram?
A photogram is a photo which objects are exposed to light. Objects are placed on a light sensitive surface such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. Where the object was placed the surface would stay white because it received no light. However where the surface area that received light it would turn black or grey depending on how long you expose it to light. |
Man Ray
Ray is also noted for his work with photograms, which he called "rayographs" in reference to himself. This is an example of one of his works. this photogram has good composition and he had exposed the objects to light for the right amount of time. I really like man rays work because they are very clear and easy to understand for example the photo above look like a face |
How I made my photogram?
I placed my objects e.g.: toothbrush, stretchy alien, light bulb and scissors on a photographic paper. I only opened the box of pater in the dark or red light because if i opened them in the light the paper would be exposed to light making them black or grey. I placed my photographic paper under the enlarger and exposed my paper and objects to light for 2 seconds. I then had to put my photogram in the developer for 2 minutes the in the stop for 1 minutes then I had to put it in the fix for 2 minutes. when its in the fix I could turn the light on.
